#RealtyNewsRoundUp: No Further Constructions In Delhi’s Unauthorised Colonies, Rules SC
The Supreme Court on April 24 prohibited any further construction not in conformity with the building bye-laws in 1,797 unauthorised colonies in Delhi. The top court also questioned the authorities' intent in regularising such structures — on the same day, the Delhi High Court reprimanded the Delhi government for regularising illegal structures, saying such a move would result in creating a "time bomb". While observing that there cannot be any area in Delhi where there was no "rule of law", the SC directed the Centre to immediately set up a special task force to oversee enforcement of laws, and asked it to remove encroachments from public places and streets.

The government is planning to offers farmers Rs 1,895 per square foot for acquiring their land, an amount that they might need to revise later as prices of land in the region have gone substantially up in the past decade.
