The operator of Delhi-Gurgaon expressway has issued notices to 93 commercial establishments, residential apartments and colonies for creating illegal access points from their properties to the expressway without any permission or license. The concessionaire, Millennium City Expressway said there are hundreds of establishments on either side of the expressway but notices were issued to only those that have access points exclusively on the entry and exit lanes and are not connected by any other road. In a bid to reduce air pollution caused by construction dust, the Centre will come up with rules on construction and demolition waste management by next month. This was stated by Union minister for environment, forest and climate change, Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi recently while inaugurating a global summit on 'Smart Cities-Smart India,' organised by industry body Assocham. The minister said almost 20 per cent of pollution and dust in India's all major cities is caused to due to construction debris and dirt. Read more
The Centre will build a 900-km road for the four Himalayan shrines of Uttarakhand also known as Chardham. Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari said this after laying the foundation stone of the 93-km Rampur-Rudrapur-Kathgodam four lane highway. Gadkari said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state to lay the foundation stone of the ambitious project which will make the route to the famed Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri more convenient. The master plan for new commercial business district spread over 309 acres in Navi Mumbai will be finalised in the next six months, for which the proposal has been approved by the City and Industrial Development Corporation. Under the plan, public sector undertakings will be given preference while allotting land parcels for development through auctioning process. Read more
The Gujarat government announced its 'Redevelopment of Public Housing Policy' recently with the launch of a new scheme to attract private developers to redevelop old public housing colonies. The public housing scheme will include housing colonies in urban areas under Gujarat Housing Board (GHB), Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and urban development authorities. To meet the criteria, the colonies must be older than 20 years with a minimum plot size of 5,000 sq m. The developer will have to provide transitory accommodation to the present dwellers. Read more
