To provide housing finance options to the subscribers of the National Pension System (NPS), the pension fund regulator has formed a panel to look into the proposal. The panel, which is headed by former MD and CEO of HDFC Life Deepak M Satwalekar, is expected to give its report within six weeks.

Various government departments have issued challans to the tune of Rs 7 crore for waste burning and dust pollution at construction sites. The Delhi government's environment department held a meeting with the Delhi Development Authority, the Public Works Department, the transport department, and the municipal corporations, where action-taken reports were submitted. The fines have been imposed on the orders of the National Green Tribunal.

The members of the Association of Builders for Chennai Development sat on a hunger strike in Chennai seeking speedy regularization of unauthorised plots in the Chennai Metropolitan Area  till 2006.

The central government has approved the construction of close to 2 lakh affordable houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) launched in June last year. Stating this Union minister of housing & urban poverty alleviation M Venkaiah Naidu said Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal emerged as the 'good performing' states under the scheme.
