#RealtyNewsRoundUp: UN Selects Noida, Gr Noida For Sustainable Cities Initiative

The United Nations has invited Uttar Pradesh's Noida and Greater Noida to become a member of its initiative which aims to create 25 model cities across the world that will be fully compliant with the sustainable development goals by 2025. The twin cities in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district, adjoining the national capital, have been selected in the "University City" category as the only invitee from India.
Meanwhile, the Chennai metropolitan area would be second after the National Capital Region in terms of geographical size if the plan on expansion of the city takes off, according to a study undertaken by city-based think-tank Mylapore Institute for Policy Research.

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved Rs 1,260 crore for acquisition of land for the proposed Jewar airport. A total of 5,000 hectare land is required for the development of the proposed international airport, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 20,000 crore.

The Delhi High Court has ruled that harassed parents can evict their children from any type of property. The nature of the property, ruled the HC, would in no manner act as a deterrent in eviction of children and legal heirs who ill-treat their elderly parents. The court ruled that after an amendment in the Delhi Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (Amendment) Rules, 2017, through which the term “self-acquired was done away with, seniors citizens can apply for eviction of their “son, daughter and legal heir from the property of any kind ─ movable or immovable, ancestral or self-acquired, tangible or intangible”.

Citizens may have to shell out up to Rs 1 lakh fine for littering in public places, as the West Bengal Assembly passed an amendment to Section 338 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (second amendment) Act. The Bill proposed to impose a fine ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 1 lakh.
