#WeeklyNewsRoundUp: Delhi Metro Phase-IV Gets Approval

The Delhi government has approved the much-delayed Phase-IV of the Delhi Metro, and with this has shown the green signal to start the work on six new corridors proposed under this phase. Spread over 104 km, Phase-IV is expected to be completed by the end 2024.

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has handed over Rs 250 crore to the Maharashtra State Roads Development Corporation (MSRDC) for land acquisition of the 700-km Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, also known as Samruddhi Mahamarg. The MIDC has already advanced an amount of Rs 1,000 crore to the MSRDC.

The Karnataka government is planning to build at least 30 new flyovers/underpasses at an expense of Rs 9,200 crore to improve traffic conditions in state capital Bengaluru. The plan to build flyovers will be executed in 24 to 30 months, and is expected to be approved in next Cabinet meeting.

Over a decade after the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) launched the self-financing housing scheme for the employees of the Union Territory government, it has now approached the Union Cabinet to get a final approval for the scheme. The CHB Self-Financing Housing Scheme 2008 was launched in February that year. However, the scheme could not really take off owing to land-acquisition issues, with the Centre expressing its inability to provide land for the project.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has decided to develop smart villages along the 165-km Yamuna Expressway that connects Greater Noida with Agra. The agency has allocated a budget of Rs 100 crore for this purpose.
