Faridabad is the largest city in the state of Haryana. Surrounded by Delhi on its periphery Faridabad is a leading industrial hub. Faridabad falls in the Northern Capital Region and is surrounded by Noida to its north east, Greater Noida to its east, Delhi to its north and Gurgaon to its west.
Faridabad district is named after its founder Shaikh Farid, the treasurer of King Jahangir.
Economy, Industry and Employment:
Faridabad is the industrial capital of Haryana. Both Faridabad and Gurgaon collectively account for more than 50% of the total revenue of the entire state. The city is the largest exporter of henna and as per a report of Faridabad Henna Manufacturing Association, the total sale of henna from the city is more than 250 crores.
The city is a home to various large scale organizations like Yamaha Motors, JCB India, Havells India, Whirlpool India, Indian Oil, Larsen and Toubro, ABB Group, Bata India and Goodyear India.
Infrastructure:
Faridabad has a well – developed socio – infrastructure as it is on the broad gauge of the national capital. The Delhi metro connects it to the Delhi and Noida. The Delhi - Mathura National Highway – 2 passes through Faridabad and it is brilliantly connected to Delhi via Delhi – Faridabad Skyway.
