Vasco Da Gama is a city in Goa, also known as Vasco. It is named after the explorer Vasco Da Gama and is the headquarters of Mormugao Taluka. The town is at the opening point of the Zuari River and is around 30 kilometres from Goa’s capital Panjim and 5 kilometres from the Dabolim Airport.

On old city, Vasco Da Gama was discovered in 1543 and was earlier controlled by the Portuguese. It came under Indian control in 1961. The Goa Naval Area base of the Indian army is situated in Vasco.
