National Highway – 47 (NH- 47) is now commonly known as National Highway – 544. The highway is nearly 340 kilometers long and it connects cities like Salem and Kochi in the southern India. The national highway passes through two significant metropolitan cities that include Cochin and Coimbatore.

NH – 47 also connects several towns in Sothern India that include Salem, Palakkad, Thrissur, Alappuzha, Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Nagercoil and Kanyakumari.

The major highway is a few kilometers run from the Cochin International Airport, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and Coimbatore International Airport.

The highway is a major relief for the high volume of traffic in the locality. It facilitates transportation from southern districts to state and across the border on a greater level. The highway has contributed significantly in the growth and development of the town.
