Saswad is a municipal council in Pune, Maharashtra. It is located along the banks of the River Karha and is known to be home to Aacharya P.K. Atre, noted socialist, filmmaker and writer. The area is located towards the south of Pune and is 25 kilometres from the city centre.
Areas such as Chakan, Maval, Wakad, Mundhwa, Kothrud and Kondhwa are located close to Saswad. A drive of 20 minutes from Saswad leads you to the IT hub of Hadapsar. The four-lane Saswad Hadapsar Road is under-construction. Saswad is served by PMPML (Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited) buses and has a depot. Buses from Swargate and Hadapsar ply every 25 and 10 minutes, respectively.
The Pune Railway Station is a drive of 40-minute drive from here, while the Pune Airport is around 50 to 60 minutes away, along the Kharadi Bypass Road.
Saswad can also be easily accessed from Purandar Fort and Narayanpur (7 kilometres) and Jejuri (15 kilometres).
